Sustain-U began with a simple question…
Sustain-U is a project of Caribbean Ideas Academy, a subsidiary of the Caribbean Ideas Group.
With exposure to the challenges in our part of the world due to climate change, social issues and more, our team became obsessed with how we could be a part of the solution.
Our initial question:
Could education create a wave of sustainability-focused leaders to drive Global South sustainable development?
Sustainability - The challenge of our generation
Sustain-U’s Caribbean launch event highlights
To be sustainable means meeting the needs of the present without compromising future generations. In the Global South we face heightened risks that will require ingenuity, determination focus to impact.
OUR MISSION:
At Sustain-U our mission is to help unleash a new generation of sustainability leaders, innovators and informed citizens who work together drive sustainable development in the Caribbean, Latin America and beyond.
The Global South is walking a tightrope
Organizations, professionals & the community at-large can play a big role, but they need help.
Compliance, Climate Adaptation and Market Forces will drive orgs in the Caribbean, LatAM and Africa toward sustainability.
In the years ahead, orgs will need help with:
Developing sustainability & ESG strategies that fit with Global South realities
Upskilling talent to lead sustainability implementation
Measuring their impact across ESG dimensions
Driving community & employee behaviour change
Ensuring communities don’t get left behind
